What is yoga?

Although yoga has its origins in ancient India, its methods and purposes are universal, relying not on cultural background, faith or deity, but simply on the individual.
Yoga has become important in the lives of many contemporary Westerners, sometimes as a way of improving health and fitness of the body, but also as a means of personal and spiritual development.

What is yoga?

Yoga derived from the Sanskrit word “Yuji“, meaning to yoke or union, yoga is an ancient philosophy and science that allows us to connect the body, mind and spirit.

The ancient sage Patanjali has defined yoga as “Yoga chitta vritti nirodha”, which means the control over the unsteadiness of the mind, the ego and the intellect.

Yoga unifies, in a harmonious way, throw a set of ethical codes and progress through physical postures, breathing exercises (pranayama), and mental practices (meditation), all our being (body and mind), providing us with a general well-being, stress and anxiety reduction.
Yoga is not about touching your toes.
It is what you learn on the way down.
